Shahidul Islam Tutul commonly known around the country as S.I. Tutul is a popular singer and music composer. The singer is best known to music lovers for his playback singing and direction. He has sung lots of songs that got popular.  S.I. Tutul adds a new dimension to the music industry of Bangladesh. He is a former member of LRB that is founded by the famous singer Ayub Bachchu. S.I. Tutul Early Life:

S.I. Tutul was born on April 28, 1969, in Shatkhira, Bangladesh. The singer spends his childhood in Kushtia and completed up to HSC from the district. He completed SSC from Kushtia Zilla School and HSC from Kushtia  Govt College. In early life, Tutul was roaming different corners of the country.

After completing HSC, he shifted to Chittagong and took a graduation degree from Chittagong University. He was so much attention to students and toppers in his classes. In early childhood, he had a weakness for music and his parents inspired him much to build up a career in the music industry.

S.I. Tutul Career:

S.I. Tutul is an expert in playing different types of musical instruments if though he trained in Piano. He was engaged in the music arena from early life eventually build up a career in the track.  In 2005, S.I. Tutul got an offer from well-known filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki for the music direction of his movie ‘Bachelor’. The movie was commercially hit across the country and beyond the country and won several awards all over the world eventually the music composer got positive acclamation. In the movie, the song “Keu Prem Kore” sung by him got huge popularity around the country.

His composed song “Amar majhe nei ekhon ami” sung by popular singer Samina Chowdhury and Asif Akbar won National Award. The famous singer leads his band ‘Dhrubotara’. In the movie ‘Hridoyer Kotha’ his sung song ‘Jay Din Jay Ekaki’ has touched the millions of music lovers of the country. S.I. Tutul sings the title song in more than fifty dramas. Tutul’s first title song in the drama ‘Roger Manush’ was written by Selim Al-Din and directed by Salauddin Lavlu. Then he gave his voice for the title track in the drama ‘Vober Hat’ directed by Salauddin Lavlu.

The famous singer already played back in more than four hundred movies. S.I. Tutul made a debut in the playback singing with the movie ‘Valobashar Mullo Koto’. He joined Stamford University, Dhaka, Bangladesh as an associate professor of the film & media department.

Musical career

Tutul was a founding member of the band LRB. In 2005, he founded a band called “Face to Face” which was later renamed to Dhrubotara in 2011.

Tutul is a well-paid playback singer in Bangladeshi film. His style is a blend of Indian classical, western, and operatic traditions. Largely self-taught, Tutul had a proficiency for music from a very young age and after completing BA (Hons) and master’s degrees at Chittagong University, he decided to pursue music as his career. His basis in music is the classical piano but can also play many other instruments, including guitar keyboard. Tutul is also a sound engineer. Most of his songs are tuned and composed by himself.

Tutul is best known for redefining contemporary Bangladeshi music. He has been hailed by many people in Bangladesh as the Shurer Karigor (he who creates melodious tunes and music).

In 2006, Bangladesh won an international film award from the International Film Festival in Chennai for the film ‘Nirontor. Tutul was the music director of the film, which was selected as a Bangladeshi submission for Academy Award in 2006.’

In 2005, the noted filmmaker Mustafa Sarwar Faruki offered Tutul a movie called Bachelor which was a success and brought him nationwide fame as a composer. The movie won a number of international awards, especially for the song ‘Keu Prem Kore’ (‘Everyone Loves’) which was a hit in Bangladesh and was tuned, composed and sung by S I Tutul.

Tutul was helped much by Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed, who died in 2012. Tutul tuned, composed and sang the majority of Ahmed’s songs and considers him a major inspiration. Singers like Samina Chowdhury and Asif Akbar won national awards for the song ‘Amar majhe nei ekhon ami’ which was tuned and composed by Tutul.

Tutul has performed on many concert tours around the world. He was appointed special ambassador in Bangladesh for a number of organizations. He composed and sung more than 500 film and Drama playback songs. He composed and sang many jingles, background scores, and title songs.
