Tara Davis is an American track and field athlete. She is the American junior record holder in the indoor long jump. She broke the record February 11, 2017 at the Dumanis Sports Group Prep Classic in Frisco, Texas, jumping 6.68 m. She placed 6th in the women’s long jump final at the 2021 Summer Olympics.

Tara Davis is the wife of Biz Markie, Professionally known as Biz Markie, he was an American rapper, singer, DJ, record producer, actor, comedian, and writer. He was best known for his 1989 single “Just a Friend,” which became a Top 40 hit in several countries. In 2008, “Just a Friend” was ranked No. 100 on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs of All Time. Markie has been called the “Clown Prince of Hip Hop”.

Biz Markie was interviewed in the 1986 cult documentary Big Fun in the Big Town. Markie released his debut album, Goin ‘Off, in 1988, which attracted quite a bit of attention, largely due to the lead single, “Make the Music with Your Mouth, Biz.” The album also featured the hit underground singles “Nobody Beats The Biz”, “Vapors” and “Pickin ‘Boogers”.

On October 10, 1989, Markie’s second studio album, The Biz Never Sleeps, was released by Cold Chillin ‘/ Warner Bros. Records, produced by Markie, his cousin Cool V, and Paul C. The single “Just a Friend “, in which he alternated between rapping and singing, became Markie’s most successful single, reaching number 9 on the Billboard charts. The song interpolates the 1968 song “You Got What I Need” by singer-songwriter Freddie Scott, whose basic chord and melody provided the basis for the song’s chorus.

“Just a Friend” was ranked 81st on VH1’s Top 100 Single-Hit Wonders in 2000, and then at number 100 on VH1’s Top 100 Hip Hop Songs in 2008. The music video, directed by Lionel C Martin, narrates the rapper’s wife’s problems.

Biz Markie Cause of Death

Biz Markie, the New York rapper, beatboxer, and producer, died at 57.

Markie’s representative Jenni Izumi said the rapper and DJ died peacefully Friday night with his wife by his side. The cause of death has not been revealed.

“We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support we have received during this difficult time,” Izumi said in a statement. “Biz created an artistic legacy that will always be celebrated by his industry peers and beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning more than 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members, and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes, and frequent jokes. ”

A highly endearing figure who emerged in the nascent hip-hop scene of the mid-1980s, he garnered his biggest hit in 1989 with Just a Friend, which reached No. 9 on the US charts.

He was diagnosed with diabetes in 2014 and was hospitalized for weeks with the disease in 2020.

Tributes for the rapper arrived on Friday night.

Immortal Technique, Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington, and other stars have shared their condolences and offered reminders of Markie’s work and her impact on the New York City music scene.

“When I was a teenager we used to sneak out on Monday night to go to the hottest party in New York. Soul Kitchen taught how to let the music live in my body, ”wrote Washington on Twitter. “Whenever we saw Biz in 1 and 2 we were in awe. He was a genius. May he rest in peace and soul. ”

Even New York Mayor Bill de Blasio chimed in and said, “Biz Markie turned hip hop around and brought that New York sense of humor to audiences around the world. Tonight we are mourning a true son of Harlem. ”
