He was born in Mianwali, a town in northwestern Punjab, Pakistan. In August 2018, he was one of the thirty-three players awarded a central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the 2018-19 season. On 18 December 2020, Shadab captained Pakistan for the first time in an international match, when he led the first Twenty20 International (T20I) team against New Zealand. Shadab Khan is a right-handed batsman and leg-break bowler. In international cricket, he played as a bowling all-rounder for the Pakistan cricket team. He is also a part of Pakistan Super League and captain of Islamabad United. He captained Islamabad United for the first time in PSL 5 2020 and proved his captaincy and batting prowess.

Shadab moved to Rawalpindi at the age of 12 and became a regular member of his school cricket team. He later joined the National Cricket Academy in Lahore to learn from former Pakistani greats like Mushtaq Ahmed and Abdul Qadir. He was steady in his growth and was ready to be selected for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. Despite Pakistan’s departure, Abdul ended up being the highest wicket-taker of the tournament as usual. He was selected in the national team at a very young age. After his impressive performances in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, he was signed to play for the Trincomalee Knight Riders in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League. Later in 2017, Shadab signed with the Brisbane Heat for the 7th edition of the Big Bash League. In June 2019, Shadab was selected to play for the Edmonton Royals franchise team in the 2019 Global Twenty20 Canada Tournament.

Shadab Khan International Career

Shadab made his ODI debut for Pakistan against the West Indies on 7 April 2017. He made his Test debut for Pakistan against the West Indies on 30 April 2017. He was part of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy winning team. . In September 2017, he was named PCB’s Emerging Player of the Year. On 16 October 2017, against Sri Lanka, Shadab made his first ODI fifty. Shadab put on a 109-run stand with Babar Azam and slowly turned the innings into a 200-run stand. While bowling, Shadab brought early success with three wickets in a low scoring game. Pakistan won the match by 32 runs and Shadab was named man of the match for his all-round performance.

In April 2019, Shadab was included in the Pakistan squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Three days after Shadab was named in Pakistan’s World Cup squad, he contracted a virus and was dropped from Pakistan’s previous tour of England. He replaced Yasir Shah in the match against England. Ahead of the third ODI against England, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has confirmed that Shadab has recovered and will be fit enough to play in the World Cup. On 23 June 2019, in Pakistan’s World Cup match against South Africa, Shadab took his 50th wicket in ODIs.
