Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian cricketer extensively considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Perhaps a complete batsman and the most worshipped cricketer in the world, Tendulkar holds just about every batting record such as most runs and hundreds in Tests and ODIs.

Tendulkar was born into a Rajapur Saraswat Brahmin family, in Mumbai on April 24, 1973, to his mother Rajni who worked in the insurance industry, and his father Ramesh Tendulkar, a Marathi novelist, named Tendulkar after his favorite music director, Sachin Dev Burman. Tendulkar’s elder brother Ajit encouraged him to play cricket. At the age of 14, he scored 329 in the school cricket competition that was ever highest score. After school, he joined Kirti College.
