BRIEF PROFILE OF RT. HON. AHMED MOHAMMED.

RT. Honorable Ahmed Mohammed, a politician, businessman, and philanthropist, hails from Apache – Ankpa LGA of Kogi State. He is currently the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

He was born into the family of Alhaji Ahmed Musa on the 14th August, attended Air Force primary school & Stella Marris College both in Port-Harcourt and Igah Community College Ikeja – Okpo, Olamaboro LGA, where he obtained his primary and secondary education before proceeding to Rivers State Polytechnic Bori where he graduated in the Department of Banking and Finance.

His first appointment was with Universal Trust Bank where he worked as an accountant before venturing into the Oil/Gas, Marine Engineering sector, a job which he critically and passionately learned under Akpos Marine Limited, a leading Marine and Haulage company in Rivers State as the company’s accountant. Due to his result-driven approach towards achieving tasks and set objectives, he rose to become the finance manager and later started his own marine company – Ahmedis Concern Limited, a Marine, Civil, Mechanical, and general contracting firm in 2007. His ability to multitask also extends him into real estate and as a very resourceful, enterprising, and quintessential individual, he has achieved tremendous success in business.

His love to reach out to his people, excellent track records in human development, philanthropic gestures made him answer the call of his constituents to join politics; and so far he has demonstrated exceptionally on the floor as a member representing Ankpa 1 state constituency by sponsoring bills, raising series of motions, chairing Ad-hoc committees and has established a good working relationship between himself, his college and the people of Ankpa 1 constituency. Amongst some of his very important bills which are today a law in Kogi State are;

1.    A bill to establish Kogi state Youth Development Commission

2.   A bill to protect the right of people living with disability & Disability office

3.   A bill to establish Celuke College of Health Science Ojiapata

These bills assent and today, are law in Kogi State. Other very important bills being sponsored by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed which is still at the committee stage is a bill for a law to establish Kogi State Erosion Control Commission.

As a man who is known for his vocal and vibrant representation on the floor, he has moved very important motions, among these is the motion calling on the State Government to fix Ankpa Township roads, which is a reality today.

Through his foundation (Ahmed Mohammed Foundation), he has enrolled over two hundred Ankpa sons and Daughters via his scheme “Ahmed Mohammed Skill acquisition and entrepreneurship scheme”, offered scholarships to students in Ankpa LGA from secondary school to university level. He has it on record as the first state legislator to flag off the biggest water project ever in Nigeria tagged “Operation Water for all”, which has so far, provided water to about thirty-five (35) communities in Ankpa LGA, and more projects are ongoing.

Also as part of his constituency outreach, he has embarked on massive building and rehabilitation of schools, rehabilitating health care facilities, and supplying types of equipment/drugs for efficient services to villagers where necessary. As an employer of labor, he has employed and empowered over five hundred ANKPA sons and daughters to his Oil and gas, Marine business in Portharcourt – a gesture which has earned him titles from within and outside Kogi State. He is also being decorated as the “Omakoji Onu Ankpa – Gbadaligi” for his tremendous achievements, commitments, and respect for institutions.

According to the legendary English writer and poet. Williams Shakespeare, in his classical comedy, Twelfth Night,” said “Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. Rt. Honorable Ahmed Mohammed is indeed a born leader.
