She is the daughter of Jim O’Brien, the late Philadelphia weatherman and radio disc jockey, who was killed on September 25, 1983, during a parachute dive while saving the life of another skydiver. She studied at the Dallas Theater Center and pursued acting at the University of Texas in Austin. She also studied acting at the British-American Academy in London.
