Early Life & Family:
Nagma was born on December 25, 1970, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her father Arvind Pratapsinh Morarji died in 2005, and now film producer Chander Sadanah is her stepfather. Her mother Shama Kazi follows the Islam religion. The actress has one half-sister named Roshini aka Radhika Sadanah and three stepbrothers named Dhanraj, Yuvraj, and Suraj. Nagma did her schooling at Mount Mary Convent High School, Mumbai, and completed her Bachelor of Commerce from National College, Mumbai.
Nagma made her acting debut appearing in the movie ‘Baaghi’ in 1990 which she portrayed the role of Kaajal aka Paro along with Salman Khan. In 1992, she appeared in The Hindi drama film ‘Yalgaar’ as Anu Singhal and ‘In Police Aur Mujrim as Meena Khanna. Nagma played a supporting actress role in the films Kunwara, Lal Baadshah, Chal Mere Bhai, and Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love.
The actress made her Telugu debut with the comedy film ‘Peddinti Alludu’ in the role of Geeta. At the same time, she appeared in the Telugu action film ‘Killer’ in which she played the lead role of Priya alongside Akkineni Nagarjuna. Then Nagma released many Telugu films such as Gharana Mogudu, Aswamedham, Kondapalli Raja, Gang Master, and Ninu Choodaka Nenundalenu.
In 1994, Nagma made her Tamil debut with the romantic thriller film ‘Kadhalan’ in which she played the lead role of Sruthi alongside Prabhu Deva, for that character she was nominated the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress. The actress acted with Rajinikanth in the Tamil film ‘Baashha’. In 2001, she did a special appearance in the song “Vathikuchi Pathikadhuda” in the Tamil film ‘Dheena’. The actress also appeared in the Tamil thriller film ‘Citizen’ in the role of CBI Sarojini Harichandran.
Nagma made her Malayalam debut with the film Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam and Kannada’s debut with the film Kurubana Rani as Rani. The actress also acted in Bhojpuri, Punjabi, and Bengali films. The Bhojpuri film ‘Dulha Milal Dildar’ is her Bhojpuri debut for that she won Bhojpuri Film Award for Best Actress. In 2005, Nagma appeared in the Bengali film ‘Parinam’. The actress also worked in the Punjabi film ‘Ek Jind Ek Jaan’ in which she played the lead character Nimmi.
Nagma’s Political Career:
Nagma’s political career started to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2004 she wanted to do the general Lok Sabha Elections as the candidate from Hyderabad. But the BJP did not accept her desire.
Because of secularism, Nagma joined the National Congress. In 2014, she contested Lok Sabha Elections as the candidate from Meerut, but she lost the election. In the following year, the actress was appointed the general secretary of the All India Mahila Congress.
