Mike Conley Early Career

Conley attended Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, where he led the basketball team to three consecutive state championships and set an overall record of 103-7 in his four years as a starting point guard. In his senior year, he has failed a total of 123 assists. He finished second in the Indiana Mr. Basketball vote, behind teammate Greg Oden, who was named national player of the year.

Among other accolades, Conley was selected to the McDonald’s All-American team and was nominated to the Parade All-American third team. Considered a five-star recruit by Reveals.com, Conley was listed as the No. 3 point guard in 2006 and the No. 18 player in the nation. That year, along with AIU teammates Greg Oden, Deccan Cook and Mark Titus, Ohio State University pledged to be a part of the nation’s second-largest recruiting class each year.

In his new year at Ohio State, Conley averaged 11.3 points and led the Big Ten Conference with an average of 1.1 per game. Connie, along with comrade-in-arms star Greg Oden, led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten conference championship and runners-up finish in the NCAA Tournament. On the way to the championship game, Buckeyes defeated the states of Central Connecticut, Javier, Tennessee, Memphis and Georgetown.
