Dikshu Sarma (Born: 1 July 1982) is an Indian Playback Singer whose songs are famous in Assam. Dikshu Sarma songs for Assamese film industry Jollywood, Television series and Mobile Theaters. Dikshu started his music career in 2006 with the launch of his debut album “Champion” which was a grand success and acclaimed well in the music fraternity. Dikshu Sarma was born on 1 July 1982 and age is 37 years as of 2020.

Early Life & Education

Dikshu Sarma was born in Nalbari, Assam and brought up in Guwahati. Dikshu studied at Guwahati University Model High School. He completed his graduation from Guwahati Commerce College. Later, pursued his masters in Commerce from Gauhati University.
Dikshu completed his post-graduation before delving full time into his passion, music.

He is under the guidance of Guru Karuna Sankar Thakuria of Assam for Hindustani Classical Music and Guru Kamalesh Samaniya for Voice Culture & Hindustani Classical Music.

Dikshu Sarma is a soulful singer and a versatile artist. One of the most promising artists in the Assamese music industry.

He started playing table at the age of 12 taking the first steps into the music world. Since then he has never looked back and has come a long way in establishing himself as a prominent singer.

After the success of his first album, “Champion (2006)”, his popularity has been rising rapidly and he has travelled across Assam performing at various locations, belting out popular numbers and captivating the masses with his charismatic performances.

In a very short while, he has had over a thousand songs to his credit in various languages like Hindi, Bengali and Assamese.

As he slowly but surely begins to make a foray into the Hindi film world, he comes with the legacy of being one of the most celebrated singers from the eastern part of India, having done thousands of live shows across North East of India, North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and all over India.
Dikshu has contributed significantly to the Assamese music industry with some of the most acclaimed hit songs. He has performed in numerous Bihu Albums like Lokhimi, Gamusha, Moromjaan, Kolija, Tora and several Assamese folk songs like Borgeet, Loko-Geet, Tukari-Geet, Jhoomur, etc.

Meanwhile, the trend of selling of physical music album was stopped and people tend to love singles song that are available online instead of buying the whole songs or cassette. Currently, Dikshu also working on singles instead of albums.

Dikshu also sang theme songs for many Assamese Television series.

He has sung the title song of Bollywood Album named ‘Bahoon Mein’ and also the song ‘Galla Nal Galla’ from a Bollywood Movie.

It is no surprise that in 2013 he won the ‘Bhupen Hazarika Award’, a man who was known in his lifetime as a musical social crusader.

He is also the recipient of Bigg Axomiya Music Award 2010, Geet Film and Television Award 2010 and Nebcus Media Award 2011. It has also won him the Best Popular Album and was awarded The Best Singer by Geet Music and Television Awards.
