Albert Watson Newton AM MBE was an Australian media personality. He was a Logie Hall of Fame inductee, quadruple Gold Logie award-winning entertainer and radio, theatre and television personality and presenter. Newton hosted the Logie Awards ceremony on 19 occasions.

A famous Australian television personality, Bert Newton is known to host the TV series 20 to 1, Good Morning Australia, and In Melbourne Tonight. He is a four-time recipient of the world-renowned Gold Logie award and became the host of the Logie Awards Ceremony several times.

Prior to becoming a famous TV personality, Bert Newton started working as a radio personality where he was later known as Zag in Zig and Zag. His TV career started when he hosted The Late Show. From 1975 until 1992, Bert Newton enjoyed the limelight under the Nine Network. From 1992 to 2005, he was hired as the host of Good Morning Australia for Channel Ten.

Apart from being a TV and radio personality, Bert Newton also worked as a stage actor when he played the role of Professor of Oz or Professor Marvel in The Wizard of Oz, Cogworth in Beauty and the Beast, Liebkind in The Producers’ and Max in the world-renowned The Sound of Music.
