Hakim was admitted to Dhaka University and received a graduate degree in Political Science. He is a dweller of Dhaka city since his college life.

In 1977, he started a career with the theatre group “Aranyak”. Under the theatre, he has acted in various dramas and gained huge popularity as well as turned himself into a successful actor. Ora Ache Bolei, Iblish, Nankar Pala, Ginipig, Somotot, and Coriolenu are remarkable plays in his career. Afterward, he joined Dhaka theatre where he acted in various drama serials including Songsoder Maa and Kirtonkhola.
